Folks who have worked with me know that I am very proactive about ear infections and ear ventilation tubes.

This chart shows the frequencies and decibels involved in speech sound production as well as environmental sounds. The speech sounds are in the yellow area.

Continual ear infections can sure have an effect on the formation of language in a  little one.  Imagine not hearing well as an infection builds up … and then not hearing well while receiving treatment.  That’s a significant chunk of time to have trouble hearing.  And if those infections are recurring … that’s even more lost time!

And, since this chart illustrates environmental sounds as well, notice how machinery can hurt hearing.  That’s why ear protection is so wise!
