Honoring This One

Honoring this one. My spunky mama, Sarah Killen.

At the end of WWII, she boarded a ship for Europe to assist an army general as a US civil servant. Because of the war, she had been away from my dad for 3 1/2 years while he was serving in Europe. The general, who was to be her boss, refused to let my dad meet her ship! Daddy ignored his instruction and went to meet her anyway. When my mom was introduced to the general, after politely saying hello, she informed him that she would not work for him! Thus, my choice of the adjective “spunky”.

My mom and dad had quite a story … I’ll share it sometimes … superb examples from the Greatest Generation. She taught many lessons with her life. Today would have been her 98th earthly birthday. I always miss her.
