Use Lots of Visual Cues

Be aware of events taking place right around you.  After a recent storm, there was lots of tree damage.  Watching tree experts remove a broken limb from the center of a huge oak tree was a great language opportunity!

Whenever a new experience presents itself, use lots of visual cues such as pointing, gesturing, using facial expressions, and giving demonstrations to explain.  All of those give more information.

This experience was loaded with new vocabulary:  action words, equipment, machinery, skills, and tools!  Hearing description of what is seen is most helpful….use words and gestures.

What a blast for little ones!  Sit down on the curb across the street and watch!  The men loved explaining!
